Raised bands with gilt print and decoration; large fold out map and 4 engraved plates. The boards are rubbed; a tear has been repaired on the fold out map with acid free tape, more seriously there's a small hole in the south section of Tahiti. Internally the pages are iimaculate and the binding solid.. A very nice copy. Jules Garnier was an engineer sent by the French to explore Oceania. Text in French
