The marbled covers are rubbed and chipped at the edges; the right hand corner of front board has been bent, resulting in crease and a further chip along the edge. The red leather spine strip has a small tear towards the tail and the frontispiece is loose. There is foxing to the preliminaries. Internally the book is in excellent condition. I love the sentence neatly written in pencil on the title page " author never was in America"
